POC add-in to Fusion 360, that offers visual editing environment to modify model parameters.
Dynamo for Autodesk® Fusion 360® is a cloud-based 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE platform for product development. It combines industrial and mechanical design, simulation, collaboration, and machining in a single package. The tools in Fusion 360 enable fast and easy exploration of design ideas with an integrated concept-to-production toolset. Fusion 360 allows user to manage own set of parameters, that can control the geometry. This feature enables automation of the design process due to the rebuilding of the related geometry after changing model’s parameters.
However, Fusion 360 doesn’t have its own visual environment to control geometry and define new model’s parameters as well as it doesn’t provide inheritance of parameters from parent to child models. To solve this common set of challenges Fusion 360 users face with, AMC Bridge developed a plugin that offers custom nodes for Dynamo Studio to receive, manipulate and update Fusion 360 parameters.
Dynamo Studio software is a stand-alone programming environment that lets designers create visual logic to explore parametric conceptual designs and automate tasks. It helps solve challenges faster by designing workflows that drive the geometry and behavior of design models, extends designs into interoperable workflows for documentation, fabrication, coordination, simulation, and analysis. It allows users to create visual logic to explore parametric conceptual designs and automate tasks.
To establish bidirectional data exchange between Fusion 360 and Dynamo Studio, AMC Bridge created the custom solution which includes:
- Add-in for Fusion 360. It exports/imports all active model’s parameters to .json document.
- Input Dynamo custom node. It allows user to select parameters for Dynamo Studio (exploiting corresponding parameters from *.json file).
- Output Dynamo custom node. It allows user to select parameters to be set from Dynamo Studio (exploiting corresponding parameters from *.json file).
Dynamo Studio 2017 1.1 - 1.3 is supported.
