The main purpose of the project was to create an extension to eTakeoff Bridge, which would establish a bi-directional data exchange between Autodesk® Navisworks® and Sage. AMC Bridge developed Autodesk Navisworks Integrator, the add-on for Bridge, implemented in a form of two intercommunicating plugins for both Autodesk Navisworks and Bridge. With the release of Navisworks Integrator plugin, which enabled seamless data exchange with the popular AEC application and facilitated 3D model-based estimation, the number of Bridge users increased dramatically.

The goal of the project was to develop a stand-alone, tablet-based application that provided only the essential functionality of the Aras Component Engineering application and was accessible to any user from any location at any time. AMC Bridge developed Aras Component Search, a custom, stand-alone mobile application that supports the component search and procurement process.
The Aras Component Search application provides direct access to the IHS CAPS Universe electronic component database. Users can also initiate part approval requests and corresponding approvals directly through the application.

How AMC Bridge increased the competitiveness of IMAGINiT technologies Scan to BIM software through their in-depth knowledge of 3D data modeling and the PCL library

IMAGINiT was using the original version of the cylinder recognition tool in its Scan to BIM software. This tool could only recognize a single cylinder at a time and had very low performance on large point cloud data. This did not allow the tool to be widely used and made the reconstruction of models from 3D scans of plants containing a lot of cylinders, such as petrochemical plants and refineries, especially difficult. Automated methods for the detection and fitting of cylinders in point cloud data are essential for 3D reconstruction of these sites. The current cylinder recognition tool did not perform as well as their competition and IMAGINiT wanted to provide their customers with a tool that would outperform in both accuracy and speed.

That approach worked well in the early stages of the project, but when it came time to run the simulation on a more realistic set of data with an expanded arena, the limitations of MATLAB became apparent. MATLAB is an efficient environment for quick prototype development, but lacks the capabilities of lower-level programming languages for performance optimization, data management and distributed computing. The researchers realized that they needed a more powerful software tool, but did not have the in-house programming skills to develop one.
