"Our clients recognized the power of SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM right after the first introduction, but it was clear that without the ability to automatically generate the engineering documentation according to the national standards (GOST), the clients would not be able to justify the investment in this software. The ability to sell SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM on our territory was subject to having an extension to the product that would enable creation of GOST-compliant documentation."

SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM is a fully customizable data-management solution that efficiently guides product teams through the development process, ensuring that team members have access to the right files at the right time. Localized vault replication and support of multiple CAD applications provides unmatched productivity regardless of the size, distribution, and diversity of the organization.
Any tool, regardless of its power, has limitations. One of the limitations of SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM became apparent when it entered the CIS marketplace (CIS is the Commonwealth of Independent States comprised of the countries of the former USSR, such as Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and others). That limitation results from a very rudimentary support of local GOST standards when it comes to creating and managing engineering documentation. The high productivity enjoyed by the users in other geographies is completely lost to users in CIS, who must create manually all the required documentation in accordance with the GOST standard.
The executives of INTERSED Ukraine, an authorized SOLIDWORKS reseller in Ukraine, realized that in order to increase the market penetration of SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM in their territory, they had to provide a software application that automates the process of generating GOST-compliant documentation. AMC Bridge had a long-standing relationship with INTERSED and was therefore a natural choice when it came to engaging a development team capable of delivering exactly what INTERSED had in mind. AMC Bridge developers have expert knowledge in building software extensions to SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM. In addition, AMC Bridge has a development center in Ukraine staffed by mechanical engineers with intimate knowledge of GOST requirements.
Based on INTERSED Ukraine requirements, AMC Bridge produced a compelling formal proposal and project specifications for the development of the EPDM-Documentation product, which have won INTERSED’s vote of confidence.
The final product enables engineers to generate various types of documentation in accordance with the GOST standard, such as specification, grouped specification, list of specifications, and list of purchased components. The rules governing the generation of these document types are driven by an external XML-based configuration file, which allows end users to adjust existing or create new types of documentation on the fly.
The solution is fully integrated into the SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM environment and utilizes SOLIDWORKS as the host application for actual generation of the documents.
EPDM-Documentation was implemented at the largest SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM customer in Ukraine Scientific-Industrial Company "Mining Machines" where its seamless integration into the workflow enabled company engineers to enjoy the same high productivity level as attained by users in non-GOST regions.
“Our clients recognized the power of SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM right after the first introduction, but it was clear that without the ability to automatically generate the engineering documentation according to the national standards (GOST), the clients would not be able to justify the investment in this software. The ability to sell SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM on our territory was subject to having an extension to the product that would enable creation of GOST-compliant documentation.
I am very glad to report that now there are happy users of SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM among our clients. We sponsored development of the software tool that provided the capabilities lacking in the out-of-the-box version of the product. Due to this project, we reignited our relationships with the group of exceptional software developers from AMC Bridge, who not only built the tool but also helped one of our largest clients ("Mining Machines") to fit it into the current engineering process. Everyone on my company’s side and on the side of "Mining Machines", who was involved in this project, was very impressed with the technical capabilities and professionalism of this software development organization, which exhibited the intimate knowledge of the engineering challenges that the end-user engineering team had to deal with and was able to deliver a robust application that is extremely reliable and easy-to-use.”
