Waltham, MA—AMC Bridge, a software technology company serving engineering, manufacturing, and construction organizations, announced the successful delivery of a digital thread initiative for a leading research and engineering organization supporting complex, mission-critical programs. The engagement established a connected digital engineering environment that links systems engineering, design, manufacturing, and testing data, creating a scalable foundation for improved decision-making and future AI adoption.
The organization operates in a highly complex engineer-to-order environment characterized by evolving requirements, multidisciplinary collaboration, iterative development processes, and large volumes of data distributed across disconnected systems. As programs became increasingly dynamic, fragmented workflows and limited visibility across lifecycle stages made it more difficult to maintain traceability, respond to change, and leverage engineering data effectively.
To address these challenges, AMC Bridge worked with the client to implement a systems engineering-driven digital thread architecture that provides continuous visibility into system state and connects critical engineering and business processes across the product lifecycle. Built on the Aras PLM platform and extended with systems engineering capabilities, the solution integrates requirements management, system architecture, planning, design, manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing, and validation into a unified environment.
The initiative also established interoperability across a broad engineering ecosystem, including CAD, simulation, PLM, ERP, manufacturing, and test systems. By creating structured connections between previously isolated data sources, the organization gained end-to-end traceability and improved access to engineering knowledge throughout program execution.
As organizations increasingly explore the use of AI in engineering and manufacturing processes, data quality and accessibility have become critical considerations. The project addressed these requirements by establishing structured, governed engineering data and a connected digital thread capable of supporting future AI-enabled workflows.
"Many organizations are eager to apply AI to engineering challenges, but meaningful results depend on having access to reliable, connected, and context-rich data," said Igor Tsinman, President and CEO of AMC Bridge. "This project demonstrates how a systems engineering-focused digital thread can create the operational foundation required to improve visibility, support decision-making, and enable practical AI adoption over time."
The completed solution delivered significant operational improvements, including a unified digital thread connecting engineering, manufacturing, and test activities; real-time visibility into program and system status; end-to-end traceability from requirements through validation; and reduced dependence on manual coordination across teams and systems.
The transformation also enabled a shift from document-based processes toward continuous, data-driven execution, allowing stakeholders to make decisions based on current system information rather than static reports. By integrating planning, engineering, manufacturing, and testing workflows, the organization established a scalable framework capable of adapting to evolving program requirements and future technology initiatives.
The client highlighted both the technical outcomes and collaborative nature of the engagement.
The engagement reflects a broader shift occurring across engineering-intensive industries, where organizations are looking beyond traditional data management approaches and investing in connected digital environments that support collaboration, traceability, operational efficiency, and future AI initiatives.
